Hormones in heaven?

I'm taking this class called pastoral theology (does that make sense in English?) and we're talking about mind, body, spirit and all those things a lot. Some christians really make a distinction between those things, but our teacher says we should view people more as a whole and not try to divide them in so many pieces, because the Bible doesn't seem to do that either.
Anyway, we were talking about the soul and what it is and what happens to it when you die. We couldn't really define the soul, but we kinda agreed that it's the part of you with it's passions and longings. We also thought it is our soul that goes to heaven. But a big part of your passions and longings are controlled by your brains that regulate the hormone functions. So if your brain dies that part of your soul will be gone too.
Which made one girl say: "Oh, that's why people don't get married in heaven!" :)

***

So yeah... I guess I'm not so good at keeping my blog up to date :)
It's like with keeping a diary. That was also hard for me, 'cause whenever I missed a few days it didn't feel right not to mention them at all, but it also felt like too much work to write about all them too.
Anway, preaching went well. Thanks those of you who have prayed for me. I don't think preaching is my calling (though you never know what the future brings) but it was a good experience. I've learned a lot from preparing, the actual preaching, the feedback and watching myself on DVD.
It's too bad that you can't put music on this site like on myspace. So, I suggest you all go to www.new-day.nl , go to the audio section and listen to 'Nain'. Then you'll know what song I'm singing all day!
Summer is almost over for me. Next week I'll have to take to exams that I missed last year because I was sick. And the week after the whole 'college circus' will start of again. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone again and following new interesting courses. But I will miss long sunny days with a cool drink and a book in my parent's garden!

Preaching

The fourth and last period of this year we have this class called homiletics (the art of preaching)
It's a really interesting class. But even more 'interesting' is that we all have to practice by preaching a sermon to our classmates!
My turn is this Thursday and you can't imagine what it does to you when you have to prepare a sermon (besides those of you who've done that before) I've been thinking and praying and dreaming (!) about it for weeks already!
I'm not a big fan of standing in front of a group. Whenever there's a presentation that needs to be done, I'm always glad when someone else offers to do it. But this time I have to stand there. For 20 minutes. And I can't just make stuff up. It's the word of God we're talking about here, so I don't want to say anything that's not true! With any other presentation I usually don't really mind to make something up when you're not sure, but I don't want to mess with Biblical truth! Thank God for the Holy Spirit to help me understand his Word when I pray for it!
So I'm working really hard on my exegeses, try to make up an interesting introduction, maybe some fun anecdotes and so on... I'll be talking about 1 John. 3:11-24 Read it and if you have some interesting thoughts about let me know!
But I would really like you to pray for me. 'Cause I don't think I've ever done something else that made me this nervous! Thanks. I'll let you know how it went!

Oops!

Yesterday I made the first scratch in my dad's car... He didn't mind so much. My dad is really cool!
The car is really pretty, so it's not that you wouldn't see the difference or anything. My parents are just not into material stuff. I think that's great!
